Awards Categories - Criteria

All nominations should be submitted by 5.00PM ON MONDAY 26th APRIL 2010.

If your company is successfully short-listed a representative must be available to attend an interview with the judges on the 18th or 19th May. For individual categories the nominated individual is required to attend the interview (not a representative). Interviews will take place in the Daily Record Offices, One Central Quay, Glasgow.

To make your entry please fill out the online nomination form. To determine the relevant categories for your nomination the criteria can be found below.

Applicants may nominate their business in more than one category. A separate application form (photocopies will be accepted) should be used for each entry. Applicants will also be able to submit supporting material where appropriate.

Timeline of nomination process
(Nominations open 4th March)

Upon submission of the nomination form a questionnaire will be sent to the nominee. Nominees will be asked to return the questionnaire within 1 week.

Nominations close 26th April - Any nominations that are received on this date will be required to have their questionnaire returned by Friday 30th April.

w/c 3rd May, shortlisting process will take place to narrow down nominees to 6 in each category.

11th May, head judges Kai Murray and Jean Cousins will review the 6 nominees in each category and select 3 from each category to interview.

12th & 13th May, a member of the Business Insider events team will contact each successful nominee and invite them to an interview with the judges on either the 18th or 19th of May

18th & 19th May, interviews will take place in the Daily Record Offices, One Central Quay, Glasgow.

Winners will be announced at the event on Thursday 10th June at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel

The 2010 Awards Categories...

Individual volume specialist of the year (temporary, permanent and contract recruitment)

Nominees in this category are expected to evidence a positive impact on the business through their work with candidates and relationship with client organisations.

They will be able to demonstrate an expertise in managing an in-depth and robust client recruitment process. Judges will consider initiative shown in assisting candidates through the process of finding a job and in meeting client organisation requirements.

The winner will be able to demonstrate an outstanding level of customer service in relation to balancing the quality of service with the number of placements made, providing evidence of how they have gone above and beyond regular service provision.

Rather than simply concentrating on number of placements made the nominee must also be able to provide evidence of their role in volume campaigns with particular reference to examples of best practice, value add activities and business benefits.

Judges will also be looking for detail on the nominee's career progression to date and any in-house recognition given. Nominees must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical codes of conduct and practice.

Individual recruitment consultant of the year (non-volume temporary and permanent recruitment)

Nominees in this category are expected to evidence a positive impact on the business through their work with candidates and relationship with client organisations.

Judges will consider initiative shown in assisting candidates through the process of finding a job and in meeting client organisation requirements.

The winner will be able to demonstrate an outstanding level of customer service in relation to the candidate and client organisation matching and placement.

While nominees will be expected to demonstrate a positive record of placements and fee income they must also provide evidence from their case load that demonstrates how they have added value to a campaign or contract from both client and candidate perspective.

Judges will also be looking for detail on the nominee's career progression to date and any in-house recognition given. Nominees must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical codes of conduct and practice.

Back office support team of the year

Nominees in this category will be expected to provide detail on activities they have undertaken and their impact on the business and the staff within the business.

Judges will be particularly interested in those teams that have demonstrated initiative in meeting the changing demands of the business and supplying appropriate support within their organisation.

Teams nominated in this category will be asked to provide case study evidence demonstrating the difference their work has made to the organisation and/or the industry through their response to key challenges and problems.

Nominees will be expected to identify activities and commitment that demonstrate they have gone the extra mile in providing support.

Recruitment team of the year

Nominees in this category must be able to demonstrate how their performance has impacted on the business and/or the client organisations and/or the candidates.

In addition to demonstrating good business performance the team must provide evidence of their working practices in relation to best practice, value add activities and business benefits.

Whilst fee generation and placement activity will be considered the winning team will be able to demonstrate how they have contributed to the organisation and the industry over the past 12 months, for example through working on market analysis, candidate attraction strategies, client events, retained assignments etc…

The judges will be looking for details which demonstrate how the winning team stands out from the crowd; this may include testimonials from client organisations and candidates.

Nominees must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical codes of conduct and practice. Note teams should consist of 4 or more members.

Recruitment leader of the year

This category is open to managers/directors who have a demonstrable success story both in terms of achieving business success and in leading their organisation through recent times.

The award is intended to recognise professional commitment to the recruitment industry. The nomination must evidence the role the individual has in promoting best practice. Nominees will be expected to demonstrate how they have impacted their organisation both financially and non-financially.

Judges will be looking for evidence of positive leadership, excellent business management skills and examples of added value activities such as community engagement, working with underrepresented groups, championing ¨back to work¨ initiatives, promoting ¨professionalism¨ and ¨ethical¨ behaviour. Nominations are expected to come from people who have been ¨led¨ and /or inspired by the nominee.

Innovation award

Nominees in this category are expected to evidence the impact of innovation in recruitment. This "innovation" is not necessarily technological. It could range from software usage to training and support to online technology and process development.

Whatever the "innovation", judges will be looking for a demonstrable positive impact on the business, and/or the client organisations and/or the candidates. Nominees must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical codes of conduct and practice.

Small recruitment agency of the year (25 staff or less) Medium / Large recruitment agency of the year (more than 25 staff)

Nominees in these categories must be able to demonstrate provision of quality service through a proven track record of client and staff satisfaction.

Evidence of best practice business operation must be provided. Nominees will be asked to not only consider their financial performance but also how they demonstrate best practice through adherence to codes of conduct principles, embracing diversity, innovative thinking and practice and relationship with candidates and client organisations. From an organisational perspective the nominees must demonstrate best practice in people management within their own organisation e.g. staff satisfaction, learning and development opportunities, retention of talent within the organisation, opportunities for career growth etc...

In recognition of recent economic conditions judges will be considering both financial and non financial factors as preciously outlined and will be particularly interested in how organisations have adapted to ensure they remain committed to quality customer service and positive people management practice.

Newcomer consultant of the year

Nominees in this category are expected to have between 12 and 18 months experience in the recruitment industry.

The individual will be required to evidence a positive impact on the business through their work with candidates and relationship with client organisations. Judges will consider initiative shown in assisting candidates through the process of finding a job and in meeting client organisation requirements. The winner will be able to demonstrate an outstanding level of customer service in relation to the candidate and client organisation matching and placement.

The nominee must be able to provide evidence from case load that demonstrates how they have added value to a campaign or contract from both client and candidate perspective. The individual should be able to demonstrate how they stand out from the crowd, for example they may also have received in-house recognition or been promoted. Nominees must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical codes of conduct and practice.
