This is a special award created by our title sponsor Wm Morrisons PLC to recognise individuals or groups who work tirelessly to improve their local community.

Such as entrepreneur James Kean, from East Kilbride who won the award in 2009. This self made millionaire, opened a sports complex in the grounds of his house, and invites over 300 local children to his home each week to play football and a wide variety of sports free of charge. Iain King, who nominated James for this award, said "This is all done on a completely non-profit basis, as James simply strives on seeing kids staying fit and learning about diet, discipline, fitness, respect and manners".

This year Morrisons will once again be selecting four Community Champions and donating £250 towards each of their worthy projects. Each of these finalists will be invited to attend the awards ceremony on the 20th September, where one of them will be announced as the overall winner and receive a further donation of £1000 towards their cause.
