Willie Bauld 1928-77
Surprisingly Willie Bauld only won three caps for Scotland although he also represented the Scottish League 13 times. A member of the "terrible trio" which included Jimmy Wardhaugh and Alfie Conn he was affectionately known as "the King" at Tynecastle scoring 277 goals in 466 matches. Bauld was a Scottish League Champion in 1960, a Scottish Cup winner in 1956, a Scottish League Cup winner in 1955, and 1959, and a Scottish League Cup finalist in 1962.
Eric Caldow 1934 -
The pacy full back of the 1950s and 60s era can claim to have played in two great Rangers teams during an Ibrox career which lasted 13 years. Caldow made 407 appearances for Rangers, winning five League Championship titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups. He was an automatic choice for Scotland between 1956 and 1963 winning 40 caps, 14 of them as captain, and played in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden. With Rangers he was also a European Cup Winners Cup Finalist in 1961.
Jimmy Cowan 1926 - 68
Cowan is regarded as one of Scotland's finest goalkeepers who inspired the international team to Wembley glory in 1949 and 1951. The 1949 match in particular is remembered as "Cowan's Wembley". Between 1948 and 1952 Cowan was able to hold on to the number one shirt ahead of Old Firm rivals and he won 25 caps in total while with the unfashionable Greenock club. Jimmy was a Scottish Cup finalist in 1948 with Morton and also made three appearances with the Scottish League.
Alan Hansen 1955 -
Alan Hansen helped Partick Thistle win the First Division Championship in 1976 and enjoyed the following season in Scotland's top flight before moving on to Liverpool for a £110,000 fee in 1977. He would become a mainstay of Liverpool's greatest ever team along with Graeme Souness and Kenny Dalglish. During his time at Anfield Hansen won three European Cups, eight League Championship titles, three League Cups and two FA Cups. He made a total of 434 appearances for Liverpool, scoring eight goals. The successful TV analyst also won 26 caps for Scotland between 1982 and 1987.
Ally McCoist 1962 -
A brilliant penalty box striker Ally McCoist was twice winner of the European Golden Boot and is Rangers' all time top goal scorer with 355 goals from 581 games. With Rangers McCoist won eight League Championship titles, nine Scottish League Cups and one Scottish Cup. He also won 61 caps for Scotland scoring 19 goals and played at the 1990 World Cup finals and the 1992 and 1996 European Championship finals.
Rose Reilly 1955 -
Voted the world's best female footballer in 1983 Rose Reilly is currently one of only 14 football players and managers in the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame. She is also a World Cup winner and trailblazer for women's football. At just 17 and having already played 10 games for the Scotland Women's team Rose moved abroad to become a professional footballer. She started off with Reims in France, winning a League title, before moving to AC Milan. During her time in Italy Reilly won eight Serie A titles, four Italian Cups and was twice Serie A Golden Boot winner. At her peak in 1983 Rose captained Italy and scored one of the goals as the Azzurri defeated the USA to lift the Women's World Cup in front of a 90,000 crowd at China's National Stadium.
Walter Smith 1948 -
Now back at Rangers for a second term Walter will perhaps be best remembered for his first stint as manager between 1991 and 1998 when the Ibrox club dominated Scottish football. Smith brought seven League Championship titles, three Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups to Ibrox during this time. He also brought Rangers to within a whisker of the 1993 UEFA Champions League Final during a remarkable treble winning campaign. Walter's appointment as national team boss brought a marked improvement in results for Scotland and he is now back at Ibrox leading Rangers once more into the Champions League.
Gordon Strachan 1957 -
Gordon Strachan is now a high profile manager but he was successful at club level too especially with Aberdeen, Manchester United and Leeds where he was voted Player of the Year in 1991. Strachan was capped 50 times by Scotland and played at the 1986 World Cup finals in Mexico. With Aberdeen he was voted Scottish Player of the Year in 1980. He won two Scottish League Championship titles, three Scottish Cups, the European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup. He also won the FA Cup in 1985 and the Football League Second Division in 1990 and the First Division in 1992.
Eddie Turnbull 1923 -
A member of Hibernian's "Famous Five" forward line Eddie Turnbull was a driving force behind the clubs success during the late 1940s and 1950s. With Hibernian Turnbull won three League Championship titles and in 1955 he became the first British player to score a goal in the European Cup. Eddie won eight Scotland caps, made four appearances for the Scottish League and played at the 1958 World Cup Finals in Sweden. He later enjoyed a successful managerial career with Aberdeen and Hibernian.
