Chief Scientist Office
NHS Research Scotland (NRS) is a partnership involving Scottish NHS Boards and the Chief Scientist Office (CSO) of the Scottish Government. Its ambition is to ensure that NHSScotland provides the best environment to support clinical research.
One of the early activities of NRS has been the development of a coordinated system to help researchers gain permission to undertake clinical studies involving multiple NHS Boards. Facilitated through the NRS Permissions Coordinating Centre this has enabled studies to be approved in a timely and efficient manner.
Bringing a coordinated an efficient approach across NHSScotland to supporting research remains the focus of NRS. In doing so, it facilitates excellence in research leading to the creation of new knowledge and treatments that may in turn support the best quality of healthcare in Scotland.
