Our Heroes 2012

A glittering awards dinner attended by celebrities and sports stars honouring the people who make Scotland proud and who go to extraordinary lengths to help others.

Once again this year, readers of the Daily Record will nominate candidates and our judging panel will select a short-list of three heroes from each category in areas including armed forces, senior, caring, entertainment and sport.

At the star-studded dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow, hosted by Jackie Bird and Tam Cowan, we will reveal the 9 winners and the overall hero for 2012. Guests will enjoy a champagne reception, lavish 3-course meal and live entertainment.

Inspirational past winners from the community are courageous Black Watch soldier Colin Hamilton who despite losing a leg in Kosovo returned to the front line in Iraq and 5 year old Jenny Cook who just days after an operation to remove her large bowel was sitting up in bed planning how to raise money for Yorkhill Childrens Foundation.
