RBS and Golf's Unsung Heroes
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group enjoys a long history with the game of golf, with their sponsorships providing ample opportunities to develop the sport at all levels. As Patron of The Open Championship, RBS supports golf beyond the boundaries of the professional game and acknowledges the hard work that goes on behind the scenes of Scottish golf at community level.
The professional golfers taking to the course at Turnberry all reached the top of their game through hard work and dedication, but crucial to their success was the unwavering support of coaches, caddies, parents and club staff who offered their time and expertise to launch their careers at an early age.
Recognising this, the ‘Unsung Heroes’ competition aims to identify the top 10 ‘Golfing Heroes’ in Scotland who make a real difference; not only to the sport of golf but also the communities and golf clubs that they are a part of. RBS’s official Patron status enables them to reward community golfing heroes with tickets to The Open Championship in July – celebrating and inspiring grassroots golfing heroes by providing access to the very top echelons of the sport.
By recognising and rewarding the unsung heroes of community golf in Scotland, RBS is looking towards the future of the sport, providing access and opportunities for those who are actively furthering its ongoing development.
