Winning Students
What do current World Championship gold medal-winning swimmer Hannah Miley, World U23 triathlon medalist David McNamee and World Championship badminton Mixed Doubles medalist Imogen Bankier have in common?
Well, apart from being fantastic Scottish athletes who enjoyed great succcess this year, they are also all...students.
They are not alone, in fact colleges and universities across Scotland are packed with talented athletes combining their training and competition with their studies.
Supporting them all the way is Winning Students, Scotland's national student sports scholarships. As well as tailored funding support to cover everything from student accommodation to competition expenses, the scholarships provide academic flexibility to ensure students can achieve their sporting and academic goals.
Each year, the scholarships support around 100 athletes studying in 28 member colleges and universities nationwide. Winning Students has also helped to establish two national performance centres through close partnership working with governing bodies of sport.
Guided by an advisory board, the programme is managed by the University of Stirling as Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence, and funded by the Scottish Funding Council.
Winning Students is delighted to support the Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards 2012.

Glasgow 2014
Glasgow 2014 is delighted to sponsor the Inspirational Performance award at this year's Sunday Mail sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards.
This event is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar and gives our athletes a chance to receive recognition for their endeavours.
There have been some truly inspiring achievements in the sporting world this year which rightly deserve proper recognition.
We are here to celebrate those accomplishments whether they have been on the track, in the water, on a field or if they have been team efforts or an individual's unique talent.
It is always an honour to participate in these awards and we are happy to be associated with them.
We would like to wish all the nominees in our category the very best of luck - to make it on to the shortlist for such a prestigious award is an achievement in itself.
With less than 1,000 days to go to the Opening Ceremony of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games we hope to see some many of our nominees - and fellow guests - involved in what will be the biggest sporting event Glasgow and Scotland has ever seen.
RBS Group
RBS is a proud supporter of the 2011 Scottish Sports Awards. Our partnership with the Awards forms part of a broader programme of support for grassroots sport. Indeed, community sport forms the cornerstone of our sponsorship programme.
This year's awards will deliver well-earned recognition both to our elite athletes and to excellence in community sport which often fails to gain the exposure and credit it deserves. That's why we support programmes such as Set4Sport.
Set4Sport - the brainchild of Judy Murray - is a collection of fun and inexpensive family games and exercises, designed to help children learn the core skills needed to play any sport in later life.
The programme is aimed at encouraging parents to play active games with their kids. As Judy, mother of Scottish tennis stars Jamie and Andy, says, "RBS has backed the boys in their careers for a long time, and they are now helping us bring the lessons of our Dunblane garden into every home."
Set4Sport is just one of a series of initiatives from RBS that uses the company's partnerships and sponsorships to deliver benefit to local communities.
RBS congratulates all nominees and winners at the Scottish Sport Awards 2011.
