Welcome to the Creative Scotland Awards 2012
As the Year of Creative Scotland comes to a close, the Creative Scotland Awards are a chance to celebrate the artists, makers, singers, writers, actors and all the creative and talented people of Scotland.
Creative Scotland, the national leader for the arts, screen and creative industries, and the Daily Record, Scotland's National newspaper, came together to launch this search for creative minds across the length and breadth of the country. The people of Scotland were invited to make nominations across 12 categories, highlighting the artists and creative work which they had experienced and enjoyed this year. The process was simple. Anyone could submit a nomination, and they duly flooded in – over 350 suggestions were made, ranging from talented schoolchildren to award winning artists and companies, from newcomers to the established, the Borders to the Highlands and Islands. What came across was the high quality of work from across the spectrum of artforms that Scotland produces – and the high regard that the people and audiences of Scotland hold for those artists and producers.
